 | Comprehensive Information/Referral Services
The initial step in seeking service is most frequently a telephone call. When someone is seeking help, the caller is connected to a certified Information and Referral specialist. Information is collected to assist staff in their decision making process to determine appropriate resources. Because the service is comprehensive in nature the procedure can range from a telephone call to an in-person interview and in some cases consists of both.
A request for information about services of Catholic Charities or other agencies can often be answered quickly. Requests for services not provided by Catholic Charities are referred to the appropriate facility, examples include helping organizations.
Catholic Charities provides help with:
- Baby Items
- Utility Bills and other 'heating' sources
- Clothing
- Housing (referrals)
- Transportation (referrals)
- Food
- Furniture
- Rent (referrals)
- and many more, are referred to appropriate resources if there are any available.
- Requests for counseling are given to the appropriate supervisor who then assigns the client(s) to a therapist. An initial interview is held at which time information gathering occurs concerning the problems and client expectations and goals are explored. The counseling process and fees are explained to the client. If an agreement is reached by client and therapist, a contract is established regarding number of sessions, frequency and fee.
- Pregnancy cases are referred to a pregnancy specialist from the initial telephone call.
- Adoption cases are referred to an adoption specialist from the initial telephone call.
- Requests related to the adoption search program are also referred directly to the pregnancy specialist.
