 Comprehensive Information and Referral

Comprehensive Information and Referral provides a central telephone entry point for persons seeking assistance in the four counties (Armstrong, Fayette, Indiana and Westmoreland) of the Diocese of Greensburg. Trained and certified information and referral specialists respond to clients' needs and connect them with possible financial assistance within the Catholic Charities system or through outside community agencies.

As part of this process, the information and referral specialists may link callers with various services and/or programs such as:

  • Family shelter and housing
  • Counseling
  • Homeless prevention funds
  • Rental assistance, and many more

The primary goal of the information and referral program is to provide emergency financial assistance, information and referral, as well as case management services to individuals or families unable to meet their immediate basic needs.

Case management services help individuals achieve self-sufficiency. This service may include a needs assessment, brief service consultation (budget counseling), referrals to counseling and health, and family support services for individuals requiring assistance due to a crisis or an emergency, such as fire, flood, family violence, loss of income, etc., or because they have insufficient income to meet their basic needs.

If you are in need of assistance during normal business hours (9-5) or for general questions, please contact our main office at 724-837-1840 to speak with the receptionist.

If you are seeking assistance after the hours of 9-5, weekends or holiday's please call our HelpLine at 1-866-409-6455.

All requests for material assistance (e.g. rent, utility help, food, baby items) are handled by phone. Please call 724-837-1840 to be placed in touch with a caseworker. Your privacy is important to us. We cannot exchange confidential information via e-mail or social media.
